Intermediate arrangements for lever or pedal harp of four traditional Manx melodies in G minor (two flats) that can be performed individually or as a medley. 

My Friends, Take Heed, an Air in 2/4 begins with the sounds of flowing water, and grace notes imitate the calls of birds.

The Carol of Death and Eternity is in a flowing 6/8. For lever harps tuned in E-flat, E natural III & IV are set before playing, and no lever changes are required during the carval or carol.

Shepherd the Weather is Misty and Changing is in a slow triple meter. The seventh degree of the scale is alternately raised and lowered. The left-hand accompaniment has been kept simple to allow for ease in changing levers.

The Prodigal Son, is also a carval. For lever harps tuned in E-flat, the harpist will set E natural III and IV before playing. No lever changes are required during the piece.

Kathleen Blackwell-Plank’s “Pisgah Sleeps” is for solo lever or pedal harp with optional voice. The melody of this restful piece rises and falls like gentle breathing and explores a variety of harp tone colors. Left-hand harmonics, glissandi, arpeggios, and occasional rolled chords are used throughout. The lyrics are inspired by Blackwell-Plank’s abiding love of the Pisgah National Forest of the Appalachian Mountains in North Carolina.

Manx Suite: Sheep Under the Snow / The Ploughboy is intermediate level piece for lever or pedal harp based on two traditional Manx melodies.  The piece is in the key of G minor (two flats) and begins in triple meter.  The musical motif of the introduction sets the scene of a cold wintery day. The beginning air has been noted as one of the most beautiful in the British Isles. The piece has chord changes and uses the ornamentation of single and double grace notes.  During the transition to the Song of the Ploughboy, which is in 6/8 meter, both hands utilize the harp technique of pincé.  To create this special sound effect, the thumb and index finger of each hand pinch and pull the string for the notes indicated by the dotted-lines.  The descending bassline of The Ploughboy is relaxing and grounding.  This 7-page publication has three pages of music.  The suite is approximately 4 minutes in length.

Plyve Kacha Po Tysyni translates "the duckling swims down the Tysyni river." This traditional old Ukrainian folk song is a warning of the dangers of war. The lyrics are a conversation between a mother and her son, which you hear in the arrangement as the melody shifts between the right and left hands.
